Building Bridges:
This fascinating thirteen unit course explores the development of psychological services in the educational setting and the impact of clinical challenges in the school setting. This course may be taken in two parts.
Part One for 6 CEUS covers setting up mental health programs in schools. Two models of school intervention programs are cited and legal and ethical issues are discussed.
Erik Erikson's Psychosocial model of development is discussed as a bridge to bring educators and clinicians to the same place when discussing students and their challenges. The family life cycle and the consequences of its disruption are explored.
Part Two for 7 CEUS begins with the psychosocial model of development. It continues with an investigation of issues associated with addiction, abuse, divorce, and disability and how these challenges impact the student in the classroom through discussion, links and vignettes.
