" When you give children moments to open their hearts to what they love, they will become what they love. Dr Caron Goode captures the potency of nurturing our children's dreams and offers meaningful guidance, insights, and examples that offer us authentic choices on how to recast the parenting role. "
-Elaine Williamson, M.S.W., A.S.C.W.
Parenting
is full of challenges that are constant across generations and changing due to
the current societal influences. Dr. Goode presents a model for parenting the
whole child, considering the needs of the body, emotions, mental aptitude, and
inner spirit to enable children's dreams and success. This book can
greatly benefit the clinician or professional working with families and children
by providing a clear, positive and well founded understanding of child
development and parenting.
In Section One, Dr. Goode presents an overview of all the aspects of a child: gifts, goals, emotional development, temperament, intelligence, and general childhood progress.
In Section Two, Dr. Goode explains the foundations for helping children achieve success once you have understood whom the child is. The building blocks for nurturing a child's gift include esteem, empowerment, and wholeness, which is the mind and body relationship. Dr. Goode walks you through the basic premises of mindbody psychology as it applies to nurturing children.
In Section
Three, Dr. Goode provides holistic application of breathing, music, problem
solving, self-dialogue, affirmation, imagery, and guided stories to assist
the child in developing skills for success.
