                                      PTSD and KIDS
 

Child abuse, domestic violence, traumatic loss, school violence, war and terrorism, and crimes against children.  There are a number of stresses that can trigger a traumatic stress syndrome in children.  This online 4 CE course covers assessment, diagnosis and treatment of Post Traumatic Stress in children.  Different symptoms related to different developmental levels will be discussed.  Traditional and Non traditional forms of therapy are explored. Play therapy, Art and Sandplay Therapy are explored as primary treatment modalities.  

   Course Objectives

  • The participant will recognize the symptoms and understand  the diagnosis of PTSD

  • The participant will begin to able to identify the differential diagnosis of anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder and family dysfunction with substance abuse and family violence.

  • The participant will understand and choose between different treatment options based upon the client. including play therapy and sandplay.
     

  • The participant will understand the special needs of children with PTSD
